Lacy’s Honey Butter Bread
For the Bread…
- In a large bowl mix:
1 T. active dry yeast
2 c. warm water
a pinch of honey or sugar
- Add & mix:
¼ c. honey or sugar
2 tsp. salt
3 T. oil
3 c. bread or general-purpose flour
- Add and mix:
½ c. of flour at a time until dough is
smooth and elastic
- Rise until doubled in size (about 1.5 hours)
- Spray two 9X5 bread pans with cooking spray
- Remove air bubbles from dough and divide into two equal portions (log sized) and place into loaf pans
- Let rise (45 minutes – 1 hour)
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake for 30 – 33 minutes
For Honey Butter Topping…
- In a bowl, mix 1 stick of butter with about 3 T. honey and 1 T. powdered sugar (can add more honey or powdered sugar depending on desired sweetness)
Put bread on a wire rack, spread tops with honey butter topping, and allow to cool for 10 minutes before slicing
Slice and serve with extra honey butter topping
